Overview: Kapalua's Plantation Course runs along the upper slopes of West Maui, where broad ocean views, exposed wind and large changes in elevation shape the round. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw used the former plantation landscape as a wide, strategic canvas rather than forcing the course into a tightly repetitive pattern.
History: The Plantation Course first opened for play in 1992 as a Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw design. A major restoration in 2019 and follow-up work in 2020 and 2021 refreshed turf, bunkers and green complexes while retaining the established routing.
Did You Know? The Plantation Course has hosted the PGA Tour's season-opening event since 1999. Its closing holes and high Maui setting have made the course a recurring part of the professional calendar, even though the event did not return there in 2026.
