Overview: Kalhaar Blues & Greens is an 18-hole Nicklaus Design course near Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Nicklaus Design lists it as open in 2012, and later course specifications give a par of 72 and 7,425 yards. The layout is built around broad landforms, sand and beach-style bunkers, and a network of water features rather than a narrow, tree-dominated parkland pattern. Its scale is a defining part of the experience: the course was developed across 175 acres, with a large practice and clubhouse setting around the playing corridors. The result is a modern Ahmedabad course whose strategy is shaped by distance, water and approach angles.
History: Kalhaar was developed by the Navratna Group and became the second Nicklaus Design course to open in India, according to the design company's 2012 report. The project was constructed with a sand-capped base and a computerised irrigation system, with drainage designed to return captured water to the lake for reuse. Nicklaus Design also records a later 2012 grand opening and subsequent professional events at the venue. These details place Kalhaar in India's newer generation of large-scale golf developments, with environmental engineering treated as part of the original course brief.
Did You Know? The seventh hole is the course's best-known feature: Nicklaus Design describes it as an island green, and the course has fourteen bodies of water covering more than 35 acres. The opening report also notes that the site uses MiniVerde on tees and greens and Bermuda 419 on fairways and roughs. Those specifications show how deliberately the course was engineered for Ahmedabad's conditions, while the island green gives the otherwise expansive layout a single, easily remembered focal point.
