Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Club

Overview: Jian Lake Blue Bay is an 18-hole seaside resort course at Lingshui on Hainan’s southeastern coast. Mark Hollinger and JMP Golf Design Group worked with an oceanfront site to create a windswept layout with broad landing areas, sandy edges and greens influenced by the coastal ground. The course is often described as a tropical links design because it can play firm and fast in the exposed setting.

History: Jian Lake Blue Bay officially opened for play on 2 January 2012. The course was developed by the Shaoxing Jian Lake Group with Greentown China and was designed as a 7,555-yard championship resort course. It later became a regular stage for the Blue Bay LPGA, with tournament setups using a different official yardage from the full championship figure.

Did You Know? The Blue Bay LPGA course materials specify Seashore Paspalum on tees, fairways and rough, with Platinum Paspalum on the greens. The turf choice suits the tropical coastal climate and helps preserve the course’s firm, seaside playing character.
