Overview: Jefferson Landing on the New River is a private mountain course in Jefferson designed with Larry Nelson. The property follows roughly 1.5 miles of the New River and combines wooded hills, river views and changing elevation. Its private access and river setting define the course more reliably than broad resort language.
History: Development began in 1988, and the course opened in spring 1991 after Vannoy worked with Larry Nelson to refine the design. The property later underwent a renovation led by Kris Spence in 2017. Those dates separate the community's development from the later restoration work.
Did You Know? Jefferson Landing's course was assembled on about 700 acres beside the New River. The river frontage is a defining identity clue, especially because the name Jefferson Landing can otherwise be mistaken for a marina or residential development without a golf course.
