Overview: Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 mountain course in Jasper National Park, Alberta. The current directory and Fairmont course material list 6,663 yards, with the routing moving through forest, open mountain ground and the area around Lac Beauvert. Stanley Thompson's design uses elevated tee positions, broad fairway corridors, irregular bunkering and green sites that frame the surrounding peaks. The course is a resort layout, but its strongest character comes from the way the holes sit within Jasper's Rocky Mountain landscape rather than from a separate ornamental theme. This profile refers to the Jasper course at 1 Old Lodge Road.
History: Canadian National Railway commissioned the course as part of the Jasper Park Lodge resort, and Stanley Thompson led the design and construction of the 18-hole layout. The course opened on 17 July 1925. Its history includes later restoration and renovation work intended to preserve Thompson's routing, including a 1994 renovation guided by original plans. After the 2024 Jasper wildfire, the course underwent recovery work and reopened on 1 July 2025 for its centennial season. Tree removal reopened some historic sightlines, while resurfaced greens and other repairs were used to return the course to play without treating the mountain setting as a new design.
Did You Know? Thompson's construction team reportedly included about 200 workers who cleared the forest and shaped the fairways by hand. The course's short par-three 15th is one of the design's memorable mountain moments, with a green site shaped against the surrounding forest and rock. The 1925 opening also makes Jasper one of the early major resort courses built in the Canadian Rockies.
