Overview: Jameson Golf Links is the 18-hole resort links at Portmarnock on Dublin’s north coast. The course sits beside Velvet Strand with views toward Ireland’s Eye and Lambay, using sandy coastal ground for a modern links experience distinct from the neighbouring Portmarnock Golf Club. The operator’s course history credits Bernhard Langer and Stan Eby of European Golf Design with the original layout. Exact par and current tee yardage are left blank here because the published material reviewed does not expose one consistent current figure for the reworked course.
History: Construction began in the early 1990s and the links opened for play in 1995 as Portmarnock Links. A major renovation in 2022 and 2023 involved Jeff Lynch, ReGolf and European Golf Design, including new green complexes and tee areas. The course was renamed Jameson Golf Links in 2023, recognising the Jameson family’s connection with the resort and with the history of golf on the peninsula. It is therefore an evolving resort links, not an untouched 1995 layout.
Did You Know? The course name changed in 2023, but the site’s golf history reaches further back: the operator notes that John Jameson laid out nine holes on the property in the nineteenth century. The modern course is a separate 18-hole design, yet the name connects today’s links to the earlier golfing use of the same coastal estate.
