Overview: Jackal Creek This par-72 routing covers 18 holes estate course in Johannesburg’s north-western golf corridor, with the Magaliesberg visible beyond the Honeydew landscape. The routing has a links-style openness in places, but it also moves through bushveld vegetation and residential edges. At roughly 6,101 metres from the club tees, it is a course where position and recovery can matter as much as raw length, especially when the wind is moving across the open ground.
History: The course opened in March 2010 as part of the Jackal Creek Golf Estate. DDV Design Group created the original layout, and Ashley Roestoff later upgraded and rerouted parts of it in 2017. That work included a substantial bunker review and helped refine the course as the surrounding residential development matured. The estate now presents the course as both a daily golfing facility and the organising landscape of the community.
Did You Know? Jackal Creek’s 2017 bunker work removed 21 bunkers while leaving 76 in play. That is a useful clue to the course’s character: the hazards are not scattered decoration, but a deliberate network that frames landing zones and asks players to decide how much fairway they really need.
