Overview: Located in western Sardinia, Italy, Is Arenas Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole coastal course designed by the American team of Robert von Hagge, Smelek and Baril. Routed through a mature maritime pine forest, the layout features narrow fairways framed by native dunes, sandy waste areas, and large green complexes. Highly exposed to coastal winds, the course offers a unique links-style experience in the heart of Sardinia.
History: Opened in 1998, the course was built on a massive sand dune desert system. Von Hagge carefully routed the 18 holes to preserve the natural sandy contours and the pine forest, which was planted in the 1950s to protect the local agriculture from wind erosion. The course has established a reputation for its excellent drainage and high-quality conditioning.
Did You Know? The course is built on a pure sand foundation, ensuring natural drainage that allows it to play firm and fast year-round. This geological setting creates an authentic coastal links playing style, making it a favorite among golf traditionalists.
