Overview: International Links Miami, formerly Melreese Golf Course, was an 18-hole municipal course beside Miami International Airport. The Dick Wilson layout was later renovated by Charles M. Mahannah, and historical records describe a par-71 course reaching 7,173 yards with lakes, waste bunkers, sand bunkers and a cypress wetland. The course is now closed and is being treated here as a historical profile.
History: The course dates to 1960 and became one of Miami's notable municipal golf properties. A major 1996-97 renovation by Mahannah reshaped the playing surfaces and retained the course's water-and-wetland character. Operations ended in 2023 as the former Melreese property became part of the Miami Freedom Park redevelopment story.
Did You Know? Historical descriptions place 14 of International Links' holes beside water, an unusually strong relationship between the routing and its wetland setting. The course also hosted regional and professional qualifying events during its operating years.
