Overview: International Golf Club Nicosia is an 18-hole course on the grounds of the old Nicosia International Airport inside the UN Protected Area, close to central Nicosia. The club's current course history lists par 72 and 5,991 yards from the men's tees, with a 4,959-yard ladies' layout. Seven holes use different tee boxes, and the routing is played over 11 greens, which the club calls browns. Practice areas and a clubhouse complete a compact, distinctive facility. Because access to the site is controlled, general public play requires invitation from a club member, a material part of the course's identity.
History: The club began in 1988 as the United Nations Golf Club, when six holes were cut through trees and bushes for UNFICYP personnel. As commercial golf was not yet established on Cyprus, the small facility formed part of the island's early modern golf story alongside the service courses. Membership later broadened to diplomatic staff and civilians living on the island. In 2003 the club adopted its present International Golf Club Nicosia name. The club says the course was extended over the years to its present 18-hole form, but does not state the completion date, so no opening year is assigned to the current routing.
Did You Know? An 18-hole scorecard with only 11 greens is the feature that makes IGCN unusual. Seven holes are played from a different tee box, so the route depends on alternate starting positions as much as on the greens themselves. The arrangement reflects the course's incremental growth inside a constrained former-airport site and is a genuine routing fact, not a marketing nickname.
