Overview: Indian Palms Country Club’s Royal and Indian combination is an 18-hole route made from two of the facility’s three named nines in Indio. The desert setting uses palms, broad valley views, water and carefully placed targets to create a different experience from a conventional inland parkland course. Since the current target refers to a specific 18-hole combination, exact par and yardage are not entered without a matching scorecard.
History: The Indian Palms property consists of Indian, Mountain and Royal nines, forming a 27-hole facility. Published course material credits Jackie Cochran and Helen Dettweiler and describes a multi-phase revitalization of the resort community. The evidence supports the three-nine structure and design attribution, but not an exact opening year for the Royal/Indian route.
Did You Know? The Royal and Indian names are not separate clubs. They identify two of the three nine-hole loops that can be combined into an 18-hole round, which is why the routing label is important when comparing course facts.
