Overview: Indian Hills is a public 18-hole course in Fort Pierce with an unusual links-style character for coastal Florida. The course is built on natural sugar sand, which helps create firm drainage, and the gold tees extend to 6,535 yards at par 72. Broad fairways, TifEagle greens and 72 bunkers give the Ward Northrup redesign a clear strategic structure.
History: Indian Hills has been part of Fort Pierce since its founding in 1942 and was acquired by the city in 2002. As part of the subsequent improvement program, Ward Northrup was commissioned to redesign the entire 18-hole course. The current layout therefore carries both the older municipal history and a distinct later architectural chapter.
Did You Know? The course's natural sugar-sand base is more than a geological detail. It is one reason Indian Hills is known for strong drainage, allowing the layout to retain a firm, fast-playing character when wetter Florida courses are dealing with softer ground.
