Overview: Indian Canyon is a public municipal course in Spokane, Washington, set along a canyon wall west of the city. H. Chandler Egan’s design uses the natural landform, mature vegetation and significant elevation changes to create a course that feels more dramatic than its yardage suggests.
History: Egan designed the course in 1930 and it opened for play in 1935. The City of Spokane has maintained Indian Canyon as one of its principal golf facilities, and the course has remained part of the region’s competitive golf history.
Did You Know? Indian Canyon has hosted three USGA events, including the 1941 and 1984 U.S. Amateur Public Links and the 1989 Women’s Amateur Public Links. The canyon setting is a major reason those championships remain part of the course’s identity.
