Overview: Imperial West is the second 18-hole course at Imperial Golf Club in Naples, a Ward Northrup design that contrasts with the broader, more northern-feeling East Course. The blue championship tees extend to 6,534 yards at par 72. Sharp doglegs, water hazards and well-bunkered greens make placement the central skill, while the wooded and landscaped setting keeps the course unmistakably Floridian.
History: West opened in 1977 after the original East Course had established the club's golf identity. The layout received a documented 2001 renovation by Chip Powell, with work directed toward the greens, bunkers and the visual appeal of the course. Its history is therefore one of refinement rather than a change of architect or routing.
Did You Know? Imperial's two courses were designed to feel different on purpose. East uses gradual doglegs and generous fairways, while West turns toward sharper angles, more visible water and a greater premium on choosing the right side of the hole.
