Overview: Imperial East is one of the two 18-hole courses at Imperial Golf Club in Naples. Arthur Hills's design reaches 7,014 yards from the championship tees at par 72, using long meandering fairways, gradual doglegs and gentle rolling ground to create what the club describes as a traditional northern feel within South Florida. The routing is strategic without relying on sheer length alone.
History: Imperial's development began in 1972, with construction starting in January 1973 on what became the East Course. The club's local history identifies Arthur Hills as the architect behind that first layout, while the second course, West, followed soon afterward. East has remained the longer and more open counterpart in the two-course complex.
Did You Know? Imperial East was one of Arthur Hills's earliest Florida courses. His own description of the design points to the way palms, bunkers and ponds were combined to give a northern-style strategy a distinctly Naples setting.
