Overview: The Idaho Club is an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course near Sandpoint, arranged along the lower Pack River estuary and the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. The par-71 layout uses the setting's contrast between forest, wetland and open water to create a round with changing sightlines. Mountain views sit behind many of the holes, but the defining challenge is closer to the ground: players must choose lines carefully when wetlands, water and natural edges narrow the safer route.
History: Nicklaus Design lists The Idaho Club as open in 2008. The course was developed as the golf centerpiece of a residential community, with the architecture intended to preserve the character of the lower Pack River setting rather than isolate the holes from it. The result is a modern North Idaho layout whose identity comes from the relationship between the golf holes, the estuary and Lake Pend Oreille.
Did You Know? Visit Sandpoint describes The Idaho Club as Idaho's only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The label refers to Jack Nicklaus's direct signature design role, and it helps distinguish this routing from courses that merely carry a Nicklaus Design association. The setting is equally notable: Lake Pend Oreille is Idaho's largest and deepest lake, and the course sits close enough to its shoreline for the water landscape to shape the round.
