Overview: Ibaraki Country Club's West Course is a historic parkland layout located in Osaka. The course is routed over gently rolling terrain, featuring tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and undulating greens. The design requires precise positioning from the tee to secure clean angles to the well-protected putting surfaces.
History: Originally opened in 1960 and designed by Seiichi Inoue, the West Course underwent a complete redesign by Rees Jones and Bryce Swanson in 2011. The project lengthened the course and updated the strategic routing, preparing the venue to host national championships such as the Japan Open.
Did You Know? The 2011 redesign converted the course's traditional dual green system into single, large bentgrass greens. This modification allowed for more modern pin positions and improved the overall strategic flow of the holes.
