Overview: The Eighteen Hole Championship Course at Hurstbourne Country Club is a private parkland layout in eastern Louisville. It sits on a broad, gently rolling property framed by aged oak forests, creek corridors and the historic grounds of the Hurstbourne estate. The course is the centrepiece of a 27-hole golf complex: the championship 18 is complemented by a nine-hole executive course. Its traditional setting, mature vegetation and varied green contours give the round a quiet sense of place close to the city.
History: Hurstbourne Country Club was founded in 1966 on land that had been part of the Hurstbourne estate and Highbaugh Farms. The club's official history describes an original 27-hole complex developed across the property, with the historic Lyndon Hall mansion serving as the clubhouse. The course has been refined over time while retaining the estate's streams, creek beds, established plantings and other natural features. Those preserved elements are a major part of the identity of the present championship course.
Did You Know? The clubhouse is Lyndon Hall, a historic house whose story reaches back well before the golf club. The property was associated with William Linn's late-eighteenth-century station, and the house was expanded from an earlier farmhouse into a mansion before the golf complex was established in the 1960s.
