Overview: Keʻolu is the private Hualālai routing designed by Tom Weiskopf, set across lava, sand and undulating ground above the Kona coast. The course measures about 7,190 yards in the directory record and changes elevation by more than 220 feet. Collapsed lava tubes, caves, blisters and arches are incorporated into the playing landscape.
History: The course is part of the Hualālai Club’s private golf program and opened in the early 2000s. The resort’s course page identifies Weiskopf as designer and describes the two nines, with the first nine climbing and the back nine returning through gentler slopes and ocean views.
Did You Know? The first hole crosses a collapsed lava tube. It is an architectural feature created by the island’s geology, and the hole uses that natural void as a carry rather than filling or concealing it.
