Overview: The Hualālai Course at Four Seasons Resort Hualālai begins in a green oasis and crosses black lava before returning to the Pacific for its closing holes. Jack Nicklaus designed the 18-hole par-72 routing, which measures a little over 7,100 yards. The contrast between bright fairways, dark volcanic rock and ocean exposure is the course’s defining visual and strategic idea.
History: The course opened in 1996 as the first Jack Nicklaus design in Hawaiʻi and became the home of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai. The resort’s current access model is limited to club members, their guests and registered resort guests.
Did You Know? The Hualālai course hosts a PGA Tour Champions event each January. That tournament use is tied to the exact Nicklaus routing, not simply to the resort name, and has made the lava-to-ocean sequence familiar to television audiences.
