Overview: Perched on the highest point of the Howth Peninsula, Howth Golf Club is a spectacular and atmospheric heathland course designed by the legendary five-time Open Champion James Braid. Established in 1916, the layout is celebrated for its panoramic views that stretch from the Mourne Mountains in the north to the Wicklow Mountains in the south. Characterized by its heather-lined fairways and its exposure to the sea breezes of the Irish Sea, Howth offers a pure and rugged round of "mountain-style" heathland golf that is unique in the Dublin area.
Did You Know? James Braid utilized the natural rock formations and the gorse-clad slopes of the peninsula to create a layout that feels much longer than its yardage suggests. The course's signature "heather and hill" aesthetic has remained remarkably true to Braid's original vision, providing a peaceful and visually grand escape where the only sounds are the wind from the Atlantic and the calls of the local gulls.
