Overview: The Oaks at Houston Oaks is a private 18-hole Chet Williams design in Hockley, northwest of Houston. The course moves through a large oak-dominated property with varied lies, natural movement and water features that help separate one hole from the next. Williams kept the earthwork restrained, allowing the old trees and the rolling Texas ground to set the course’s scale.
History: The current owners acquired the property in 2006 and developed it into a family-oriented country retreat on roughly 900 acres. The golf facility now includes Williams’s 18-hole Championship Course and a separate nine-hole Family Course, with the Oaks identity tied to the property’s mature trees.
Did You Know? Houston Oaks takes its name from the large oak trees that shape the property, many of which are more than 200 years old. Williams specifically described preserving those trees as one of the elements that would make the course distinctive in the Houston area.
