Overview: Hominy Hill Golf Course is a public Robert Trent Jones Sr. design operated by the Monmouth County Park System. The Colts Neck layout moves across rolling ground with generous fairways, 138 bunkers, four water-hazard holes, and out-of-play wildflowers that give the course a strong New Jersey parkland identity.
History: Henry Dickson Mercer commissioned Jones to build an 18-hole course on his Hominy Hill Farm in the mid-1960s, and the course was built in 1965. The Monmouth County Park System acquired the property in 1977, turning what had begun as a private championship course into one of New Jersey’s best-known public layouts.
Did You Know? Hominy Hill’s name comes from the Manhomoney Hills, the historic name for the small hills in the Colts Neck area. Mercer adopted that local reference for his farm, and it remains attached to the golf course more than half a century later.
