Overview: Perched on a dramatically rolling hillside overlooking the scenic valleys of Sylling, Holtsmark Golfklubb is one of Norway's most thrilling and visually spectacular courses. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the mountain layout features massive elevation changes, deep ravines, and dramatic, sweeping fairways lined by dense Norwegian forest. The large, heavily contoured greens and bold, artistic bunkers require creative shot-making and careful strategy, offering an unforgettable and highly athletic test of golf.
History: Opened in 2005, Holtsmark was constructed across a challenging forest parcel, requiring substantial engineering to carve the 18 holes out of the rugged terrain. Trent Jones II succeeded in creating a course that showcases the raw beauty of the Norwegian wilderness, establishing Holtsmark as a bucket-list destination for golfers visiting Scandinavia.
Did You Know? The par-5 15th hole features a heart-stopping second shot that must carry over a massive, deep forested canyon to a green perched on the opposite ridge, making it one of the most talked-about and photographed holes in Norway.
