Overview: The Classic Course at Hokkaido Classic Golf Club Obihiro occupies a broad, rolling site in the Tokachi area, where woodland, open ground and long views give the round a distinctly Hokkaido scale. The current guide lists 6,813 yards from the championship tees and par 72. Fairways move through natural undulations rather than a flat grid, so the preferred side of a hole can matter as much as the distance left to the green.
History: The facility opened in June 1994 and was designed by Greg Norman and Liselotte Neumann. Their shared attribution is part of the course's identity, but the layout is also defined by the land itself: the club describes a hilly setting and a substantial 36-hole complex rather than a single isolated routing. The Classic course is the longer, more demanding of the two named tracks in the current guide and remains the principal championship-scale experience at the facility.
Did You Know? Classic's 6,813-yard championship total makes it 51 yards longer than the Maple route, but the course's identity comes from more than that difference. Greg Norman and Liselotte Neumann's design is set across rolling Tokachi ground, where the preferred landing side and the lie into the green shape the next shot.
