Overview: Located in Kirkkonummi, just west of Helsinki, Finland, Hirsala Golf is an 18-hole woodland course designed by Northern Irish architect David Jones. Winding through a dense, mature forest of pine, spruce, and birch, the layout features dramatic elevation changes, exposed granite outcroppings, and tight, tree-lined fairways. The course demands pinpoint accuracy off the tee to navigate the narrow corridors and disciplined iron play to reach the small, heavily defended green complexes.
History: Opened in 2007, the course was built to establish a premier competitive venue in the Uusimaa region. Jones carefully routed the 18 holes to preserve the unique natural topography, utilizing dynamite to blast through the rugged granite hillsides. The course has hosted the Finnish Open and several major national amateur championships.
Did You Know? The course was constructed to the highest international ecological standards. Hirsala Golf was one of the first courses in Finland to achieve prestigious GEO Certified status, utilizing advanced organic turf management, protecting local wetlands, and preserving native wildlife habitats.
