Overview: Nashville’s Hillwood Country Club presents a private 18-hole parkland course shaped by Dick Wilson. Rolling ground, mature trees and broad fairway corridors establish the setting, while green complexes and bunkering provide the more exacting part of the test. The course now presents a traditional Southern rhythm with enough movement to keep club selection changing.
History: Hillwood’s course opened for play in 1957. Bruce Hepner of Renaissance Golf later renovated the layout in 2003 and 2011, work that updated the course while retaining Wilson’s original architectural identity.
Did You Know? Hillwood’s 18-hole course plays beyond 7,000 yards from its back tees and remains a par-72 layout. Its renovation history is a useful example of how a mid-century Wilson course can be modernized without replacing the underlying routing.
