Overview: Highlands Ridge North is the longer of the two named Highlands Ridge layouts in Avon Park. The course is a public parkland design measuring 7,141 yards from the black tees and playing to par 72, with the operator describing a landscape of hills, elevated areas and more than 360 acres shared by the Highlands Ridge golf setting.
History: The North Course is dated to 1990 in the detailed course record. The official course story credits Dave Harmon with moving millions of tons of sand and soil to create the course's rolling elevation, and says the design was patterned after Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand.
Did You Know? Highlands Ridge North is built on an unusually shaped Florida canvas: its elevation is manufactured from the site's sand and soil rather than inherited from mountains, giving an inland course a terrain profile that feels markedly different from flat coastal golf.
