Overview: Highlands Reserve is a public parkland course in Davenport, southwest of Orlando's main theme-park corridor. The layout opened in 1998, was designed by Michael Dasher and measures 6,647 yards from the tournament tees. Its broad fairways, elevated landforms and Diamond Zoysia greens create a distinctive inland-Florida setting.
History: The course sits on the Green Swamp Ridge, a long sand shelf where elevation changes reach roughly 120 feet. The operator says a 2022 greens renovation introduced new Diamond Zoysia greens and collars, updating the surfaces while preserving the course's unusual sandy terrain.
Did You Know? Highlands Reserve has several routing quirks that stand out on the scorecard: three sub-400-yard par 4s start the round, the seventeenth and eighteenth are consecutive par 5s, and the back nine also includes the course's ninth par 5.
