Overview: Highland Falls Golf Course sits in Sun City Summerlin against the Red Rock Canyon landscape in northwest Las Vegas. Billy Casper and Greg Nash designed the 18-hole, par-72 course to use the area's higher elevation, open views and desert terrain. The current visitor listing gives the course a 6,404-yard layout, while older Nevada references describe the back nine as especially scenic and identify Highland Falls as one of the highest-elevation courses in Southern Nevada.
History: Highland Falls was established in 1993 as part of the Sun City Summerlin golf group, alongside Palm Valley and Eagle Crest. The course was created for the Del Webb community and has remained associated with that semi-private network. Its design team, Casper and Nash, also worked on several other southern Nevada layouts, giving Highland Falls a place in the region's broader late-20th-century golf development.
Did You Know? Highland Falls sits at just over 3,000 feet, unusually high for the Las Vegas Valley. That elevation helps explain the views from the back nine and gives the course a different visual relationship with Red Rock Canyon than the lower, more urban layouts closer to the Strip.
