Overview: Hermanus North combines holes 19–27 with 1–9, giving a different opening and closing rhythm from the East course. The routing moves through the club’s modernised parkland, where mounding, bunkers, trees and water accents frame a setting dominated by the Cape mountains. It is a useful choice for golfers who want the Hermanus landscape but prefer a round that begins on the newer nine.
History: The club’s original course dates to the early twentieth century and was designed by Bob Grimsdell. Peter Matkovich guided later improvements, while nine additional holes were added in 2006 to create the present 27-hole facility. The North combination uses the new holes first and then returns to the first nine of the historic course.
Did You Know? The North name describes a routing rather than a separate club. Its 19–27 opening means a golfer can encounter the added nine before reaching the original 1st hole, a small change that makes the same property feel new to anyone who has previously played East.
