Overview: Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole parkland course in Tampa's New Tampa area. The Gordon G. Lewis and Jed Azinger design plays to par 72 and 6,976 yards from the championship tees, with ponds, lakes, cypress hammocks and preserved wetlands woven through the residential setting.
History: Heritage Isles was developed as a planned community around the golf course, which opened to play in 2000. The course architects' stated approach was to preserve the property's rustic character, including natural wetlands and existing animal habitat, rather than erase the landscape for a conventional residential layout.
Did You Know? The community's official site says the course preserves 15 acres of natural wetlands, while the surrounding ponds, lakes and cypress hammocks form much of its visual identity.
