Overview: Le Château Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland layout at Heritage Golf Club in Bel Ombre, Mauritius. It moves through the landscaped grounds of a 19th-century château, with centenary trees, lakes and streams set between gentle foothills and the Indian Ocean. The club's current information lists the longest professional tees at 6,498 metres, approximately 7,104 yards.
History: Le Château opened for play in 2004 as Peter Matkovich's first Mauritius design. The course occupies about 100 hectares of the historic Bel Ombre estate and was shaped around its existing topography rather than imposed on a flat site. It later became a regular host for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, helping establish Heritage Golf Club as an international tournament destination.
Did You Know? Le Château's ninth hole produced a rare professional-golf moment in 2015, when Spain's Javier Colomo made a hole-in-one on a par four during the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. The course's name comes from the elegant château around which several holes are routed.
