Overview: La Réserve Golf Links at Heritage Golf Club presents 18 holes at par 72 in Bel Ombre, set between open grassland, the Indian Ocean and the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve. Peter Matkovich and Louis Oosthuizen shaped a contemporary links route with wide natural spaces, firm strategic ground and infinity greens that frame the ocean from every part of the round. The longest markers reach 6,727 metres, approximately 7,357 yards. Wind, elevation and the changing relationship between fairway and green give the course a character that is more rugged than the usual tropical resort layout.
History: La Réserve Golf Links opened in 2023 as the second 18-hole course at Heritage Golf Club, following the earlier Le Château course designed by Peter Matkovich. The new layout was created to bring a contemporary links interpretation to the south-west of Mauritius while working alongside the surrounding biosphere reserve. Its opening was immediately connected with high-level tournament golf: the course hosted the 2023 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, where co-designer Louis Oosthuizen won the title. The project also carried GEO certification, reflecting the effort to connect course construction and long-term landscape care.
Did You Know? La Réserve is described by Heritage as the Indian Ocean's first contemporary links course. Its infinity greens are designed to merge visually with the ocean horizon, while the course retains broad areas of natural vegetation rather than filling every space with ornamental planting. The name also distinguishes it from Heritage's older Le Château course, which remains a separate layout a short distance away.
