Overview: Haxterhöhe Links is an inland links course on the Paderborn plateau, where rolling ground, sparse vegetation, exposed wind and pale stone create a setting unlike conventional Westphalian parkland. The course uses the site’s natural movement and adds links-inspired features without pretending to be beside the sea. Broad playing corridors alternate with deep bunkering, rough and striking green complexes, so the best route is usually found by thinking ahead rather than simply hitting for distance.
History: Haxterpark was developed as a social and sporting project beside the University of Paderborn. The first construction phase, including the 18-hole Haxterhöhe Links course, opened in June 2012. The official course description credits Achim Reinmuth of Städler Golf Courses with the design and Conor J. Walsh with the shaping. The project combines golf, training and inclusive sporting facilities on the former Haxterhöhe estate.
Did You Know? The course has 121 bunkers and two double greens. Those details help explain why Haxterhöhe Links can feel like a links course even though it lies far inland: the visual language is carried by sand, wind, open ground and complex putting surfaces.
