Overview: Located in Sveio near Haugesund, Norway, Haugaland Golfklubb is an 18-hole coastal course designed by Svein Drange Olsnes. Carved out of a rugged, coastal forest and heather-clad rocky wilderness, the layout features dramatic elevation changes, narrow fairways, and small greens bordered by deep ravines and glacial lakes. The course is highly exposed to coastal winds and represents a strategic test of golf in Scandinavia.
History: Established in 1987 and expanded to its full 18-hole championship layout in 2008 under Olsnes' direction, the course required substantial engineering to route the holes through the rugged coastal terrain, utilizing dynamite to clear granite outcroppings. The course has hosted several major Norwegian amateur championships.
Did You Know? The course features several holes where the fairways run directly alongside deep, clear lakes. These lakes offer views of the rugged coastal wilderness and provide a scenic challenge that demands precision off the tee.
