Overview: Harbor Club Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish design on the Lake Oconee shoreline in Greensboro, Georgia. The public-facing layout plays to par 72 and 7,048 yards, moving through wooded hills, around four creeks and along the lake. Its character comes from the way the routing alternates between inland corridors and water views: the scenery is present throughout the round, but the holes still ask for clear decisions on position, angle and distance. The varied terrain gives the course a more interesting rhythm than a simple waterfront layout, with several holes using the natural contours to create changes in elevation and perspective. Mature trees frame many of the fairways, while the lake and creeks become increasingly important when approaches are played from the wrong side of the fairway.
History: Harbor Club opened in 1991 as part of the larger Lake Oconee community. Weiskopf and Morrish were given a broad, hilly property and routed the course to make the shoreline a recurring part of the experience without allowing it to dominate every hole. Over time, Harbor Club developed into one of the better-known public golf options in the Lake Country, where its combination of accessible playing arrangements, strong scenery and a substantial championship layout gives it appeal beyond the immediate residential community. The course remains closely identified with the original architectural partnership and with the lake setting that shaped its routing from the beginning.
Did You Know? The lake comes into play along six holes, while four separate creeks also influence the routing. That combination makes Harbor Club a useful example of how Weiskopf and Morrish layered multiple water features into one course without turning every hole into the same visual problem.
