Overview: Hanazono Golf sits in the Niseko area at the foot of the mountain resort, where the round moves between birch forest, open fairways and natural spring-fed creeks. The official description highlights views toward Mount Yotei and Annupuri, while the routing uses changes in elevation and varied terrain rather than a flat, uniform corridor. From the black tees the current hole guide lists 7,016 yards and par 72, with blue and white tees offering shorter ways to experience the same landscape.
History: The course opened in August 1992 and was designed by Chohei Miyazawa. Its identity has always been closely tied to the surrounding Niseko resort environment: the golf is presented as part of a four-season destination, but the course itself remains grounded in the existing woodland, water and mountain views. That setting gives Hanazono a different character from a city course, with the landscape doing much of the visual work before a shot is played.
Did You Know? Hanazono's spring water is not just a scenic detail. The official course material describes creeks fed by natural springs, so water appears as part of the site's existing character rather than as a collection of unrelated decorative hazards. The course also uses multiple tee sets, meaning the published black, blue and white yardages are practical choices for different visiting golfers rather than a single resort-only test.
