Overview: Located in Halmstad, on the western coast of Sweden, the Södra Banan (South Course) at Halmstad Golfklubb is a highly scenic 18-hole coastal woodland course. Winding through dense, sandy pine forests directly adjacent to the Kattegat sea, the layout features tight, tree-lined fairways, subtle elevation changes, and small, well-defended putting surfaces. The course demands precise ball placement to navigate the narrow forest corridors.
History: Opened in 1979 as the championship companion to the famous North Course, the South Course was built to offer a distinct, strategic contrast. The layout was carefully integrated into the natural sand dunes, minimizing earth movement to preserve the historic coastal ecosystem.
Did You Know? The course is built on a highly stable, deep sandy foundation that was once the ancient coastline. This unique geological history allows the fairways to remain incredibly firm and fast, providing a true links-like playing experience.
