Overview: Sun River is the newest of the three named golf routings at Kangle, a 7,235-yard, par-72 course that opened in 2005. Robert McFarland designed it as a resort parkland layout with a mixture of tree-lined corridors and more open ground. The course is long enough to reward confident driving, but doglegs, bunkers and water features ask players to decide how much of the fairway to use before committing to the next shot.
History: The course was developed by Hainan Airlines' resort group after the earlier Kangle Garden and Kangle Spa courses, and Golf007 records its May 2005 opening. Sun River forms part of the same three-course destination as Hot Spring and Oak Forest, but it has its own operating history and scorecard. The facility has been marketed as a stay-and-play venue in the Xinglong spa region.
Did You Know? The opening hole is described as a short par four with a dogleg right and a substantial bunker presence around the tee-shot decision. Sun River can offer a tempting route, but the first question is whether the player wants the direct line or a more comfortable approach angle.
