Overview: Oak Forest is the most enclosed and wooded of the three Kangle resort routings. C.J. Tan designed the 18-hole, par-72 course to work through mature oak woodland, and current course data lists it at 7,154 yards. A large lake comes into play through the middle of the back nine, while tree-lined corridors make position important even when the fairway appears broad from the tee. The result is a calm-looking course with a precise, strategic centre.
History: The Oak Forest course was the later of Kangle's three named routings according to the course information reviewed here, opening in 1997. The property developed as a spa and golf destination in Xinglong, with Hot Spring and Sun River providing two contrasting companion courses. The directory label is useful because Oak Forest is a distinct 18-hole routing with its own designer and wooded brief.
Did You Know? The lake between the twelfth and fifteenth holes is the visual centre of the course. It does not simply sit beside the property as scenery; it becomes part of the sequence after players have committed to the tree-lined rhythm of the front nine. The contrast between forest and open water gives Oak Forest its memorable stretch.
