Overview: Stepping Stone is an 18-hole, par-54 pitch-and-putt course measuring 2,176 yards. It is built around dramatic islands of turf, black lava rock and irregular sand expanses, giving short holes a strong visual identity. The course is walking only, and the shot values are clear: precise wedges, controlled flight and confident putting matter more than driving distance. It works as a stand-alone short round as well as a practice companion to the longer Haikou courses.
History: Mission Hills describes Stepping Stone as the first of its short par-three courses at Haikou. Schmidt-Curley Design delivered Stepping Stone as part of its ten-course Haikou portfolio. No separate opening year is published on the official page, but the course remains part of the resort's established golf portfolio.
Did You Know? The longest hole is 153 yards and the shortest is 98 yards, yet the volcanic setting keeps the course from feeling like a plain practice loop. Greens and tees are surrounded by black rock, and the rugged bunker shapes echo the larger Blackstone course.
