Overview: Blackstone is the flagship tournament course at Mission Hills Haikou, a 7,808-yard, par-73 layout built across a dramatic volcanic site. Mature trees, jungle vegetation, lakes and wetlands surround fairways whose edges run irregularly into black lava rock. The layout is long, but its interest comes from more than distance. Forced carries, natural amphitheatre greens, strategic final holes and easy green-to-tee connections make it a course that can be walked while still demanding a serious tournament game.
History: Mission Hills credits Blackstone to Brian Curley as part of the ten-course Haikou commission. Mission Hills identifies it as the venue for the annual World Ladies Championship and the biennial World Celebrity Pro-Am, and the resort continues to promote those events as part of the course's identity. The resort's background pages do not date Blackstone independently, so the profile keeps that field open.
Did You Know? The lava bed was not hidden beneath a conventional layer of shaping. Mission Hills says the rock was incorporated into forced carries and that old lava walls and village ruins remain on the site. The course therefore carries visible evidence of the land's earlier use, while irregular turf edges and wild bunker margins make the geology part of shot selection.
