Overview: Gut Kaden is a 27-hole estate course north of Hamburg, with the B and C loops forming the regular championship combination. The holes run through mature trees, open northern German countryside and the historic Gut Kaden property, where the old manor house anchors the experience. Water is strategically important, particularly late in the round, while the three nines give the complex a flexible rhythm and a clear tournament identity.
History: The original 18-hole course opened in 1984 and was designed by Frank Pennink. Karl F. Grohs added the third nine in the early 1990s, creating the present 27-hole facility. Between 1992 and 2002 Gut Kaden regularly hosted the Deutsche Bank–SAP Open on the European Tour, with winners including Bernhard Langer, Lee Westwood, Padraig Harrington and other leading professionals.
Did You Know? The closing stretch includes an island green reached over water. It is an appropriate finale for a course where the estate’s ponds and water edges are used to sharpen decisions rather than simply decorate the landscape.
