Overview: Gunung Geulis Country Club's East Course is an 18-hole mountain layout in Ciawi, Bogor, West Java. The club's course pages credit Thomson, Wolveridge & Perret and describe a 6,065-metre routing, approximately 6,633 yards. The current detailed course-tour sheet totals par 71, while some older secondary listings retain par 72; this profile follows the current course-tour hole-by-hole values and a 2026 tournament report that also identifies the East Course as par 71. The first nine follows the hillside contours through the Valley section; the second nine is gentler with wider fairways. Four tee positions, elevation and water and bunker hazards make placement and club selection more important than simply chasing distance.
History: East is the newer of Gunung Geulis's two 18-hole courses and is associated with a 1994 opening. The wider complex was built on a 450-hectare mountain site and the club describes the West Course as the first hillside course at the venue. East was renovated and reopened in 2017, after which the club continued to operate it alongside West as a 36-hole destination. The resort context remains part of the course identity, with cottages, hotel accommodation, practice facilities and club amenities on the same property. The date and renovation are kept distinct so the 1994 opening is not confused with the 2017 reopening.
Did You Know? Gunung Geulis means beautiful mountain in Indonesian, a fitting name for a property at roughly 400 to 500 metres above sea level beside the Cikeas River. The East course's official sheet divides the layout into Valley and Hill sections, a useful clue to how the round changes after the turn. Its first nine is undulating and follows the hillside, while the second nine is more gentle and has wider fairways. The result is a course that changes character without changing its mountain setting.
