Overview: Grove XXIII is a private Hobe Sound course created by Bobby Weed Golf Design for Michael Jordan. The current scorecard listing uses a par 72 layout measuring 6,963 yards from its teal tees, with a modern, short-grass character shaped by low contours, native broomsedge and laurel oak. The two nines wrap around the property in opposing directions, creating a double-helix routing that can be played in several combinations. Canals, hollows and shallow scoop bunkers give the course a distinctive strategic vocabulary.
History: The course was built on a former citrus grove beside Atlantic Ridge State Park and opened in 2019. Weed, Chris Monti and Joey Graziani worked on the broader land-use plan, while the golf design pursued a firm, fast and contemporary experience rather than a nostalgic recreation of an older style. Michael Jordan’s personal brief also led to an unusually detailed practice complex, including a double-sided driving range and a short-game area designed around precise distance work.
Did You Know? The Roman numeral XXIII refers to the number Jordan wore during his basketball career. The golf course echoes that personal connection in a less obvious way through its routing: clustered greens and tees allow shorter internal loops as well as full 18-hole circuits. That flexibility makes the property useful for different formats while preserving the strategic relationship between the two interlocking nines.
