Overview: Greywolf is an 18-hole mountain course at Panorama, with Doug Carrick’s routing set into the slopes and valleys of the Purcell range. The par-72 layout measures 7,140 yards and moves between forested holes, open mountain views and dramatic changes in elevation. Its greens and fairways sit close to steep natural ground, so the visual setting is inseparable from the decisions golfers make about distance, landing areas and the safest line into a hole.
History: Greywolf opened in 1999 as a Doug Carrick design at Panorama Mountain Resort. The course quickly drew attention as a new Canadian layout, with Golf Digest naming it the country’s Best New Course in 1999. The resort continues to present it as authentic mountain golf, and its 18-hole championship routing remains a key part of Panorama’s summer offering.
Did You Know? The sixth hole, Cliffhanger, is a par three played toward a green perched beside a steep drop. Its exposed setting gives the tee shot a clear visual target but little room for error, and the rock, forest and mountain backdrop make the scale of the terrain especially apparent. It is one of the course’s most recognizable holes, and a compact example of Carrick’s use of the mountain landscape.
