Overview: Green Valley Country Club occupies hilly, wooded ground in Lafayette Hill, northwest of Philadelphia. William S. Flynn’s course uses the property’s slopes, rocky ground, and running creeks to create a compact strategic test in which the landscape supplies much of the character.
History: The club was organized in 1919 after members acquired the Sacks manor and roughly 145 acres of adjoining land. The present course was laid out by William Flynn in 1924, replacing the early development phase with the 18-hole routing associated with the club today.
Did You Know? Green Valley was not founded by a group of experienced golf developers; its own history notes that almost none of the original organizers had played the game. They nevertheless set out to convert a former estate, stony terrain, and running creeks into a private course.
