Overview: Green Gables Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Prince Edward Island National Park, with the Cavendish dunes, Gulf of St. Lawrence and Anne of Green Gables House all part of the surrounding landscape. The official course page lists 6,874 yards and four tee decks. Deep bunkers, six water holes and ocean breezes give the course a more demanding character than its pastoral setting first suggests.
History: Stanley Thompson designed Green Gables in 1939, and Thomas McBroom later renovated the course, with the current operator describing the work as a modern touch on a historic PEI routing. Parks Canada records major routing changes connected to dune movement and safety issues in the early 1980s, while the course retained many original Thompson elements after its later reopening.
Did You Know? Green Gables is a rare course where the nearby literary landmark is not just a name on the scorecard: views toward the Anne of Green Gables House and the Cavendish dunes sit alongside the golf. The constant ocean breeze and shifting dune landscape also mean that familiar club selections can change from one visit to the next.
