Overview: Granite Bay occupies a private parkland setting in the Sierra foothills, where ridges, canyons and changing elevations give Kyle Phillips's routing its shape.
History: Mark Parsinen developed the club and engaged Kyle Phillips to shape the course under the influence of Robert Trent Jones II. The club's account describes substantial earthmoving, including about 50,000 cubic yards, and later work by Jay Abbott and Sal Rodriguez has continued the course's transformation. The original course dates to 1994.
Did You Know? Granite Bay's course was built around the site's natural landforms rather than laid across a flat grid. The relationship between the ridges and the fairways is why the course can feel both wooded and open during the same round.
